Five weeks today!!!!!

So we are now in official countdown mode.
I have another 3 weeks of official duties with Planet Cake to complete, which is making me quite sad to think about. I've had such a brilliant time working there.
We are starting to sort out all the little things now. We have our suitcases bought, most of our travel clothes sorted out, and now we just need to organise a couple of small things like international drivers licences and a couple of other small matters.
This is a photo of my Papa and his mother, my Nonna. I am named after her, but unfortunately, she passed away when I was very young.
Last time David, D'arcy and I visited Sicily, we went and visited her grave and took her some bright pink gerberas, chosen by D'arcy of course.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of my Papa's cousins this time around, it should be interesting. They don't really speak English, and I don't really speak Italian ;)

Six weeks and four days

Here is an adorable photo of my parents. Awwwww, aren't they cute?

I received a message from my very good friend Linda today, telling me to "lift your game, girlfriend".I haven't posted an update to the blog for weeks, about 11 weeks to be precise! There are no real excuses, just life getting in the way :)Anyway, a bit of an update from the McGregor household.David is about to start working with Mercer, in what I call a "big boy job".He is working with them in a full time role, so no more contracting, taking time off, working when he feels like it, and being around when I am working for Planet Cake.Because of this, I have made the decision to resign my position with Planet Cake.It was a big decision, a difficult decision and a bit of a heartbreaking one as well. I absolutely loved teaching, but more than that, I loved the Planet Cake family. It has been a hell of a ride, and something I will always remember fondly.Ironically, the final class I'm scheduled to teach, in mid August is the Madhatter, pictured here.It was the first class I ever taught, and also the very first class I attended at Planet Cake in Sydney four years ago!
So now I have no more excuses for being slack with my blog posts.
We are full steam ahead with our plans now, and have begun organising ourselves for the first leg of our trip, our 12 days in Sicily with my parents.Whilst my Dad isn't really interested in seeing much other than what is available on a day trip, Mum has happily allowed me to organise a nice, 3 day mini trip to The Aeolian Island, and drag her along with us.We are planning on catching a hydrofoil, which takes about 3 hours, to the island of
Lipari, where I've booked a nice little hotel for us to stay in.There are 8 islands in total, most of them tiny little places, which we can visit by boat if we choose to.We are staying on Lipari, and will hopefully see all of the other islands. In particular, we are planning to take a night time boat trip to one of the island which has an active vulcano which provides a night time light show with it's constant eruptions.I will make sure I post a heap of photos when we're there.
