Palermo to Buonfornello

We were greeted at the airport in Palermo by my Dad's cousin Pino, who, not having set eyes on my Dad for 32 years, didn't recognise him, but thought David looked out of place. Which he did, towering over everyone else in the airport! Pino and his adorable son Guiseppe, who speak absolutely no English were so welcoming it was lovely, even though we were tired, and a wee bit smelly from our 35 hours of travel.
We all piled in to the mini bus and headed to our accommodation in a little region called Buonfornello, which isn't really a town, but an area. It's on the beach and is slowly becoming a bit like a resort.
The trip took about 90 minutes, and we arrived at the little house where we are going to spend the next couple of weeks.
Not exactly the Hilton, but perfectly serviceable.
After a shower and a change of clothes, it was off to Cerda, the town my Nonna grew up in and where my Dad spent much of his free time as a child, to meet Pino's family and have a meal with them. By this time, D'arcy is struggling with staying awake and hoping the evening will be an early one. Somehow we manage to get through the meal and are back in Buonfornello about 9.30pm. Nothing to do but sleep now..................yawn!
Too tired to take photos!
